PRESS RELEASE: COVID Inspires New Music

Picton, NSW, Australia | June 11th, 2021

Sydney based singer songwriter Andy Wood is making the most of the recent downtime created by the global pandemic. When his busy schedule of gigs quickly dried up in early 2020, Andy made an immediate and reactive decision to bunker down in his home studio and start working on a new album. The results were encouraging. A bag-full of new songs bursting with foot stomping enthusiasm. “I had to do something, there was an overwhelming sense to just keep moving forward” he tells. The lyrics in his new song Wake Up also tell a story about moving forward. The catchy chant would not be out of place in the main bar of any suburban hotel with it’s irresistible line “Hey Hey what you gonna say, we’re not living for tomorrow we’re just living for today” eagerly inviting punters to sing along with the foot-tapping communal chant. As Andy will tell you “Sometimes you’ve just got to live for the moment”, it’s an adage that’s well supported throughout his new album but none more than in the current single which is a contemplative song about letting go of the past and living for the present. “It’s about celebrating life and remembering no matter what challenges are thrown at us, life is still pretty good!” tells the Country-Rock musician. The song was co-produced and mixed at Love Hz studios in Sydney by Michael Carpenter is currently available for pre-sale through iTunes and Apple Music.

Andy has never been one to think twice when opportunity knocks. He was recently invited to share his story in a television and online advertising campaign by insurance giant YOUI. The advertisement shows Andy and his bandmates rehearsing and pondering the future in the current covid climate. “The timing was remarkable, it’s just another way to tell the story of how musicians are doing it tough right now. The whole industry has been somewhat forgotten and we have had to re-invent ourselves in order to keep moving forward”.

WAKE UP is the third single off Andy Wood’s forthcoming album The Temple Bar. The single due for full release on all major platforms on June 25th with the album release to follow later in the year. Further information available by contacting Andy on 0409 652226.
