PRESS RELEASE: Emma King OAM Appointed as CEO of HumanAbility, Bringing Extensive Expertise to Drive Workforce and Education Initiatives

HumanAbility is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma King OAM as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer. Emma’s appointment signifies a pivotal moment for HumanAbility as it establishes itself as a newly created Jobs and Skills Council focussed on workforce, education and skills for the health, human services, early childhood and sport and recreation industries.
Emma brings a wealth of experience to her role as CEO of HumanAbility.
Emma has served as the CEO of the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) since 2013, where she has been instrumental in advocating for social justice and equity. Prior to this she held the role as the CEO of Early Learning Association Australia (formerly Kindergarten Parents Victoria), representing parents and providers of early learning services. She commenced her career as a teacher and has also worked as an education advisor to the Victorian state government and in industrial relations and training roles.
Emma currently serves as an Advisory Board member on the Victorian Skills Authority, a Board member on the Portable Long Service Authority and is the Chair of Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
She has previously served on the Board of Mental Health Victoria and as the Chair of VCOSS-RMIT Future Social Service Institute, an Institute established to address workforce and education needs in the social service sector.
Recognising Emma’s exceptional contributions, she was recently honored with an Order of Australia for her outstanding service to the community. Her appointment as CEO of HumanAbility further underscores her commitment to creating positive social change and advancing workforce development.
