PRESS RELEASE: ‘Father Bob Maguire’ tribute song released by “The Voice Australia” contestant Connor Wink

A special tribute song to well-loved Catholic priest Father Bob Maguire has been released by Newcastle blind vocalist /guitarist Connor Wink.
Talented Victorian-based songwriter Dawn O’Connell composed the tribute song called “Father Bob Maguire” after learning of the sad news that Father Bob had passed away aged 88 in April 2023. Dawn was approached with the song idea by a well-known Newcastle charity fundraiser and entertainer Phil Mahoney (who was inducted as Freeman of the City of Newcastle in 2022).
The tribute song focuses on Father Bob’s social justice advocacy and care for the disadvantaged members of society over his many decades of service to the community.
After learning of Dawn’s song lyrics, Channel 9 “The Voice” contestant Connor Wink was asked and privileged to record the song with local producer Luke Wheeldon.

audition on the 2022 series blind audition episode of the Australian singing competition television series, The Voice Australia’ where his audition song, ‘Believe’ by Cher, has had over 10 million views
across social platforms thus far.
The Father Bob tribute song will be released on CD and streaming services shortly, with proceeds going to the Father Bob Maguire Foundation, a Melbourne-based registered charity providing food
