PRESS RELEASE: First-Ever Successful Eritrean Australian Community and Youth Annual Festival

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – 21 JANUARY 2025 – The two-day Eritrean Australian Community and Youth Annual Festival, held at the Polish Club in Darra (Brisbane) from 17-18 January 2025, has successfully concluded.
The event, the first of its kind, was organized by Eritrean communities and youth from across Australia. It highlighted sports, Eritrean food, seminars, cultural dancing, and entertainment. The festival was significant to the Eritrean Community and the Blue Revolution, receiving strong support from state and federal MPs, police, and leaders of other communities who attended the event. Invited speakers expressed their disappointment over Eritreans being shackled under dictatorship and appreciated the community for voicing human rights concerns in Eritrea.
The Government representatives address to the Eritrea’s regime that Foreign Power Interference (FPI) and intimidation to Australian citizens won’t be tolerated and assured the safety of the Eritrean Community and Youth. The soccer game and youth cycling race were highly competitive. Winners received medals from Hon Milton Dick MP, Member for Oxley and Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, and Senator Paul Scarr, Senator for QLD.
In contrast, the Eritrean Consulate in Melbourne publicly recognized members of the diaspora 4G (Fourth Front) for instigating violence against the Eritrean Blue Revolution at the January 2024 Melbourne festival. The diaspora Fourth Front (4G) operates in Australia using community and religious organizations directly controlled by the Eritrean Consulate and local PFDJ representatives. The Blue Revolution has elected new leadership and will continue engagement with stakeholders for youth integration, community cohesion and inclusiveness. They will address human rights concerns in Eritrea and expose foreign power interference and transnational repression by the Eritrean regime, including threats, intimidation, division, and tension among the community, forced radicalization of Eritrean children, money laundering, and fundraising for the Eritrean dictatorial regime through such politically motivated events. It is worth noting that the cancellation of the politically motivated PFDJ and 4G (Fourth Front) Eritrean Annual Festival, scheduled for January 10-12, 2025, in Melbourne, is a step forward for the Eritrean Blue Revolution and justice seekers.
Eritrea is in the horn of Africa and for the last 33 years it has been ruled by the highly oppressive dictator Isaias Afewerki without constitution, free and fair election, and any form of rule of law.
