First VIC and QLD teams to join Rainbow Carnival in Sydney this weekend
Rainbow Club Australia is delighted to announce that, for the first time, teams from Victoria and Queensland will travel to Sydney to take part in the annual Rainbow Carnival at Pymble Ladies’ College on Sunday 28 September 2025.
This milestone has been made possible thanks to the generous support of Bondi Icebergs Club, Swing Factory Terrey Hills, Checkers Resort Terrey Hills, and Variety Australia.
Each year, the Rainbow Carnival brings together around 500 people, with more than 200 children with disability joining alongside their families for a joyful day of swimming and celebration at every level. This year, a team of 20 children and families from VIC and QLD will join a 35-member team from New England NSW, making this the biggest travelling contingent in Carnival history.
On the eve of the event, the teams will come together at Swing Factory Terrey Hills for a special mini-golf afternoon, generously donated to help families connect, build morale, and share in the excitement ahead of the big day.
This is the third year in a row that Pymble Ladies’ College has warmly contributed the use of its world-class facilities, providing an exceptional venue for the Carnival. Checkers Resort has again opened its doors to host families, while Swing Factory continues to create unforgettable experiences.
With Variety Australia covering the travel expenses of regional and interstate teams, and more than 50 community volunteers lending their time, the expanded, all-inclusive Carnival ensures families enjoy the very best opportunities both in and out of the pool.
A Celebration of Inclusion and Joy
Reimagined in 2025, the Rainbow Carnival has evolved into a full-day inclusive festival where every child can take part.
Ongoing support from Bondi Icebergs Club has enabled expansion of the program to feature swimming races, novelty in-pool events, sensory activities, a family fun day, and a vibrant festival atmosphere with food, entertainment, and service providers supporting the disability community.
For many members, the Carnival is their first opportunity to take part in a large-scale sporting and community event. The emphasis is on participation, inclusion, and celebration – not just competition – giving children and families a safe and joyful environment to connect, cheer, and create lifelong memories.
Rainbow Club Vice President Rob Lloyd OAM said:
“The Rainbow Carnival is one of the highlights of our year. It’s a chance for our members to shine, cheer each other on, and feel part of something bigger. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of Bondi Icebergs Club, Checkers Resort, Pymble Ladies College, Swing Factory Terrey Hills, and Variety Australia, our state and regional teams can now share in this wonderful experience with our other NSW members and make memories that will last a lifetime.”
