PRESS RELEASE: FUTURE FOCUSED – ENDEAVOUR COLLEGE LAUNCHES DISCOVERY CENTRE
Endeavour College opens its latest learning space, the Discovery Centre, designed to take learning to the next level so that its students can face the challenges of the future workplace with the skills and tools provided today.
Located in the innovative technology precinct of Mawson Lakes Technology Park the Endeavour College Discovery Centre was officially opened by The Honourable Michael Brown MP, Member for Florey, and integrates virtual and augmented reality environments, aimed to provide opportunities for students to thrive into the future. The ability to develop capabilities extends beyond careers in STEM, as students learn and experience their local, international, and virtual worlds, enhancing representation and belonging for the diverse student community.
The Lumination Learning Lab forms part of the greater redevelopment of the space, into a Discovery Centre, enhancing the capacity for students to develop in the key capabilities of the Endeavour College Vision for Learners; independence, interdependence and collective action. As students are immersed in the experiences of others, they become greater advocates for themselves, their peers and others in the community.
Head of Education at Lumination, Rebecca Bendikov is excited for Endeavour College, “We are excited to partner with Endeavour College on their immersive learning journey. The launch of this Learning Lab is not just the launch of a physical space, but a launch into the future of education for the staff and students. Endeavour College’s commitment to taking steps to be the latest school in leading in the field of immersive education is no small feat. The leadership at the school have made the commitment to prepare their students for a future where AI and immersive technology will be big players in the workforce. These students will be forefront leaders in using this technology to innovate, problem solve, and create a better future for all.”
Mr Richard Baird, Principal of Endeavour College said “Endeavour College is the first Lutheran independent school in South Australia to provide an immersive learning experience across all curricula. But it’s not about being first, it’s about being prepared; preparing our students for a future workplace by enriching their learning experience so that when they leave Endeavour, they have an empathetic understanding of the world beyond the immediate.” Technology is the enabler, allowing students to broaden their perspectives and solve complex problems through real-world connections. “With so many different learning styles, personalities and perspectives in our student body, it’s increasingly important for us as educators to implement useful strategies that combine immersive technology and traditional teaching experiences into the classroom,” said Mr Baird.
The launch of the Discovery Centre strategically places Endeavour College as a future-focused College that pursues opportunities to build on partnerships and respond to challenges to create a sustainable future.
