The Gold Industry Group (GIG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Bramwell as Chair and Rebecca Ciotti as Vice Chair, effective immediately. These leadership changes mark a significant milestone as the Group builds on a record-breaking year of industry impact, community engagement, and growth.
With gold demand and prices at record highs, strong investment across the sector is driving increasing demand for skilled professionals, and GIG is poised for further expansion in 2025. The new leadership team is focused on raising the industry’s profile, strengthening industry collaboration, driving new opportunities for members, and deepening engagement with the broader Australian community.
Meet the New Leaders Steering GIG’s Future
Wayne Bramwell, Managing Director and CEO of Westgold Resources, brings over 30 years of expertise in operations, development, and exploration. Having served as GIG’s Vice Chair in 2024, he is a well-known advocate for industry collaboration and innovation. His leadership will drive GIG’s growth in an era of record gold prices and industry expansion.
Rebecca Ciotti, Executive Manager of Corporate Services at Northern Star Resources, has been instrumental in shaping GIG’s direction as a long-standing Board Director. With a strong background in corporate affairs and stakeholder engagement, she will drive deeper industry collaboration and strategic growth.
Outgoing Chair Kelly Carter welcomed the appointments, saying:
“There’s never been a more exciting time to be in gold, and Wayne and Rebecca are the ideal team to lead GIG into this new era. Their passion, expertise, and vision will ensure the Group continues to grow, innovate, and inspire.”
GIG also welcomes Claire Walker, Vice President of External Affairs (Australia) at Gold Fields, to its Board. With extensive experience in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, Claire will play a key role in strengthening industry connections and expanding GIG’s impact across the sector.
Building on Strong Growth in 2024
The Gold Industry Group had a breakout year in 2024, reaching several key milestones:
• Through the Gold Jobs initiative, GIG connected over 75,000 Australians to job opportunities, fostering a diverse and skilled workforce.
• Brought the industry’s brightest minds together at key events, reinforcing gold’s role as a driver of innovation, investment, and economic growth.
• Expanded our National Gold Education Program, engaging with tens of thousands of students – more than ever before – and inspiring the next generation of gold industry professionals.
• More than doubled our investment in women’s sport, further strengthening partnerships with West Coast Fever, Netball WA, and Shooting Stars.
Newly appointed Chair Wayne Bramwell is eager to build on this momentum, stating:
“Gold as a metal or a career has never been more valuable, and the industry continues to support jobs, innovation, and economic wealth for many Australians. GIG has done an incredible job elevating the profile of our sector, and I’m excited to take this even further – championing new opportunities, fostering collaboration, and reinforcing the vital role gold plays in Australia’s future.”
Vice Chair Rebecca Ciotti echoed this excitement:
“There’s an incredible buzz in the industry right now. From record engagement in our programs to the growing demand for gold careers and investment, we are in a moment of real momentum. I look forward to helping GIG grow its reach and continue making an impact where it matters most – on the ground, in schools and in communities.”
GIG’s success is driven by a dedicated and diverse leadership team. Alongside Wayne, Rebecca, and Claire, long-term Board Directors who continue to shape the Group’s success include: Andrea Maxey (Vice President, Investor Relations, Communication & ESG, AngloGold Ashanti Australia); Fiona Murfitt (Vice President, Sustainability (HSE, Risk, and Social Responsibility), Evolution Mining); Cameron Alexander (General Manager, Commercial Development, Gold Corporation – The Perth Mint); Darren Stralow (Managing Director and CEO, Bellevue Gold); and Julie Jones (General Counsel and Joint Company Secretary, Gold Road Resources).
