PRESS RELEASE: GREAT DIVIDE MINING MOVES PROMPTLY TO EXPAND CHALLENGER

Great Divide Mining Ltd (ASX:GDM) advises that continuous gold recovery equipment has begun to arrive at the Challenger Gold Mine, less than 30 days after the successful first gold pour.

Spiral Separators are part of a planned upgrade to Challenger’s batch-only processing. A continuous, gravity-based concentrator, the spiral separators extract gold-rich concentrates using centrifugal force and recycled water running down along a spiral trough. No chemicals are used.

“The Challenger processing plant hadn’t operated in 8 years. GDM got it up and operating, and achieved first gold pour, in just 4 months,” said GDM CEO Justin Haines.

“As part of GDM’s “crawl-walk-run” business approach, we completed the “crawl” using the existing, low capacity, batch-style equipment, as currently installed at the site,” said Haines.

“As we recommissioned and tested equipment, we identified opportunities to immediately improve performance. So, in parallel, GDM commenced a national search to identify equipment to upgrade the Challenger site to continuous processing,” he said.

“With continuous processing, Challenger becomes a more secure, long-term commercial operation. The cash surplus expected to be generated at this scale will support further expansion and modernisation of the Challenger mine itself, and accelerate development of GDM’s 4 other advanced projects, further preserving and enhancing shareholder value,” says Haines.

“We’ve achieved first pour, ahead of schedule and ahead of budget. So, tick that box. Next goal … continuous operations at around 24 tonnes per hour.” smiles Haines.
