PRESS RELEASE: Historic Mayfield Vineyard hosts its first winemaker’s dinner with renowned chef Richard Learmonth
After taking over the iconic Mayfield Vineyard last year when they moved back to their hometown of Orange, the Eastham family is celebrating spring with an intimate Explorers’ Table dinner.
Chef Richard Learmonth has created a degustation menu to showcase the best of local produce. The exquisite food will be expertly paired with new release Mayfield Wines and limited release museum wines, by Viticulturst and Director Charles Simons.
There will also be the opportunity to taste some of Mayfield’s pre-release premium wines straight from the barrel. Included will be their, 2005 chardonnay, 2013 late harvest and 2012 cabernet sauvignon.
Richard Learmonth has been a game-changer on the food scene in Orange, arriving after two years as Head Chef at Sydney’s world-renowned Porteno, and three as Head Chef at hatted Restaurant Pendolino.
The dinner, on Saturday, October 1, includes pick-up and drop-off in Orange.
Charles Simons said the Explorer’s Table will cater for only 20 guests, to ensure a personalised and premium food and wine experience. ‘John Eastham and I are genuinely proud of what we’ve achieved at Mayfield since taking it on, and we’re excited to be sharing the very best food and wine with our special guests,’ he said. Simons said the dinner is called the Explorers’ Table to honour 19th century explorers Wentworth, Blaxland and Lawson who crossed the Blue Mountains and opened up the grazing lands of the Central west.
‘It’s a special place.’
