PRESS RELEASE: INTERIOR PLANTSCAPE ASSOCIATION INAUGURAL AWARD WINNERS SHOW THAT THE FUTURE IS GREEN

Australia and New Zealand peak industry body, the Interior Plantscape Association (IPA), marked its 40th anniversary by announcing the winners of its inaugural awards on Tuesday.

Featuring installation categories small (50 plants or less), medium (50-150 plants) and large (over 150 plants); winners included Victoria’s Nerida’s Interior Plantscaping, New South Wales’ Green Design Indoor Plant Hire and New Zealand’s Outside In respectively.

“We were thrilled by the quality of projects applicants submitted,” said IPA President Cameron Iddles. “From shopping centre transformations to the corporate offices and hotels; we received a great range of submissions from across Australia and New Zealand.

“After three incredibly challenging years for our members, we felt it was important to recognise and celebrate the leaders in our industry that have come out thriving.

“The upside to the pandemic was that many corporations have since realised the importance of interior plantscaping in keeping employees and customers; inspired and healthy. Members’ businesses are now flourishing as a result.”

Large installation winner, Auckland plantscaper Outside In, turned in a futuristic biophilic office design for New Zealand litigation firm Meredith Connell. Their installation featured over 2,000 plants for over 300 staff, including a custom made Forest Floor™ “moulded in free form to emulate the natural shape of the native New Zealand forests” their entry wrote.

The IPA’s 2022 awards were independently judged by horticulture experts: David Howard, business owner and former President of the Garden and Nursery Industry of Victoria; Melissa Marsden, workplace dynamics strategist and three times finalist of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards; and Paul Plant, radio 4BC garden presenter and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Horticulture.
