PRESS RELEASE: Interviews Available: Gold Coast Teen Balances School and Sky to Chase Coaching Dream
While school leavers across the country wonder what comes next, Gold Coast teenager Annabella-Angel Bailey is already making steps towards her dream career. And she’s still in school!
Gold Coast, September 2025: Gold Coast teenager Annabella-Angel Bailey is already training to become a Junior Flight School coach at iFLY Gold Coast, all while balancing her schoolwork.
“Honestly, this is a dream come true,” she said. “I started flying at iFLY Gold Coast when I was 12 and I have always thought that this is what I’m going to do, this is the dream job for me. So to be able to follow my biggest dream at such a young age is really exciting. I can’t wait to start my first class and see junior flyers progress in their flying and to be the one to help them get to their goals.”
Annabella first discovered indoor skydiving after an injury stopped her from doing gymnastics and acrobatics.
“I came across some videos of Amy Watson and Sarah Yates doing indoor skydiving and knew it was what I wanted to do right away,” she said.
From her very first flight at iFLY Gold Coast when she was 12, she was hooked.
“What kept me coming back was just how much fun and exciting the sport is. Also the indoor skydiving community is amazing, everyone supports each other and it’s just such a kind and supportive group.”
Earlier this year she competed at the Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships in Sydney, her first big competition.
“I was very happy to be able to go to the championships this year. My highlight would probably have to be all the new friends I made and all the fun I had being around so many people who all have the same passions.”
Her coach training is already giving her the chance to learn more about the sport she loves.
“I’m learning the obvious things like how to coach inside the tunnel, but also how to coach outside the tunnel to find out where each flyer is up to and everything to prepare them to go and fly. I hope to support each flyer by getting to know them well so I know which way they will need to be coached, as I know everyone learns things differently.”
Annabella will host her first Junior Flight Night on 27 September at iFLY Gold Coast. “My first one! To book you can contact iFLY Gold Coast,” she said.
Even with coaching ahead, she is also determined to compete.
“Yes, I do see indoor skydiving as something I want to pursue competitively. I would love to one day make it to the World Championships and compete at the Wind Games. I just did my first competition at the Sydney championships, and I really enjoyed it, so I’ll definitely be going to the other local championships, but worlds is the big goal.”
And her advice to anyone curious but nervous about trying it? “Go for it!! If you’re curious about flying, just go for it. You have nothing to be nervous about; you’ll have a great and unforgettable time.”
You can catch Annabella in action at her very first Junior Flight Night on 27 September at iFLY Gold Coast. To book a spot or learn more about Junior Flight School programs, contact iFLY Gold Coast or head to https://ifly.com.au/juniorflightclub
