PRESS RELEASE: Introducing the Fanttest – the self-test kit that detects COVID-19 and Influenza in minutes

Fanttest is the newest self-test kit to lend a helping hand to Australians everywhere, providing a way to test not only for Covid-19, but also for Influenza A and Influenza B.

Having received TGA approval for the Fanttest, Eczanes Pharmaceuticals has released the product to the Australian market, meaning that there is now a quick and easy way to detect both viruses with a nasal swab.

The swab detects both viruses in just 15 minutes – similar to the rapid antigen tests that became crucial through the spikes in Covid in late 2021 and early 2022, however the Fanttest takes this a step further, offering the addition of flu detection.

The Fanttest is suitable for use at home, with the 15 minute turnaround providing peace of mind.

The results of the Fanttest are highly accurate, and clearly specify the presence of either virus.

Anyone who uses the test will be familiar with the method, which involves inserting a cotton swab into each nostril and rotating it 3-4 times. The swab soaks in liquid for one minute, and 3 drops of the liquid is placed on the strip. After 15 minutes, a result for both viruses will be apparent on the strip.

The results of the Fanttest kit are great for initial indications of Covid and the flu before a more substantial clinical analysis, which can include a consultation with a doctor, or a PCR test.

Eczanes Pharmaceuticals founder Shida Kebriti said that she hopes this will work to play a big role in reducing the spread of these viruses.

“Fanttest gives everyone the ability to get the information that they need about their symptoms. This is a great way to determine if you have Covid, Influenza, or a common cold,” Kebriti said.

“Taking rapid antigen tests to the next level by testing for Influenza as well as Covid is going to provide that extra bit of comfort for people who are worried about their symptoms, and also minimise the risk of transmitting these viruses, especially to those who are immunocompromised.”

The Fanttest is now available at selected pharmacies, as well online at Amazon, Eczanes Pharmaceuticals, and Soodox.
