PRESS RELEASE: IPSC Grand Master Fundraises for Thailand

Queenslander Tyrone Vorst has been selected to represent Australia for the 2022 ISPC Handgun Worldshoot, Thailand in seven days.
Vorst is currently ranked as IPSC Grand Master, the highest ranking in shooting.
However, he is having to rely on a mycause fundraising page to cover costs associated with the event.
“Unfortunately pistol shooting isn’t a highly recognised sport in Australia and all the funding for it is coming out of our own expenses,” said campaign creator Jemma Hawthorne.
“Competition shooting is an expensive sport on its own, let alone travelling overseas for such an event.”
Despite its low profile, Shooting will be included in the Commonwealth Games of 2026 to be held in Victoria, Australia.
The Commonwealth Games Federation announced on 5 October, 2022 that Shooting would be included in the event program.
International Shooting Sport Federation received confirmation that after a successful expression of interest Clay Target (Trap), 10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Rifle (Small-Bore), and Para Shooting would be included in the competition program for Victoria 2026.
Next week, Vorst is up against 1600 competitors from 50 countries who will converge in Pattaya, Thailand for International Practical Shooting Confederation’s 14th Handgun Worldshoot competition.
Vorst is described as a fast and accurate shooter.
At the 2021 IPSC Australia National Handgun Championship Class A, he achieved a score of 100 percent, resulting in his title as IPSC Grand Master.
