PRESS RELEASE: IT’S TIME TO END AERIAL SLAUGHTER

Millions of wild animals are killed each year through commercial industries, recreational hunting and government-sanctioned control methods, like shooting and poisoning. The Animal Justice Party fights for an end to this slaughter.
The Animal Justice Party’s stance remains clear and consistent on this issue ahead of the federal election. Lethal population control methods such as 1080 poisoning, shooting, trapping and bludgeoning must stop. Recreational and commercial hunting, including duck shooting, kangaroo killing and trophy hunting must stop. Government-sanctioned killing programs, such as aerial and ground shooting, must stop. The exporting of native wildlife animal products, such as kangaroo skin and meat, must stop. The use of factory ships, intensive fish farms and shark culling must stop.
As more and more non-lethal animal management strategies emerge, Australia’s major political parties do little to fund, research or employ available humane methods. The AJP stands for increased funding for animal fertility control, wildlife-safe deterrents and, to reduce wildlife road fatalities, virtual fencing.
The AJP’s position is to support farmers and communities who coexist with wildlife and fund education, mitigation measures, compensation and habitat restoration. Our policies include support for those who presently work in industries that exploit wildlife by providing retraining and alternative employment pathways.
Quotes attributable to Dr Helen Jeges, AJP Lead Senate Candidate for Victoria
“The mass slaughter of Australia’s native animals is a national shame. We have the knowledge, the science and the ethics to do better – and the Animal Justice Party is the only party fighting to make that change.”
“We owe it to future generations to stop this cycle of cruelty. Imagine a world where native animals are safe, where nature is respected, and where compassion is our policy.”
“The Animal Justice Party doesn’t just stand against cruelty – we stand for a better future. One where animals are protected, ecosystems thrive, and communities are supported in ethical and sustainable ways.”
“Australians care deeply about animals. They deserve leaders who reflect that compassion, not ones who ignore science and ethics in favour of cruelty.”
“We must move beyond outdated and barbaric methods like 1080 poisoning and aerial shooting. There are proven, humane alternatives; what’s lacking is political will.”
