PRESS RELEASE: Journey Development Programs and Kinglake Forest Adventures Camp are The Only Australian Camp and Outdoor Activity Providers to Achieve AEE Accreditation
Journey Development Programs and Kinglake Forest Adventures Camp have received formal accreditation from the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), marking an important milestone in their ongoing commitment to experiential, hands-on learning. This internationally recognised accreditation highlights the thoughtful design and real-world relevance that underpin their work with students and schools across Australia.
The AEE Accreditation is awarded to organisations demonstrating best practices in safety, quality, and in particular, educational effectiveness in experiential education. For JDP and KFA Camp, it affirms a long-standing commitment to the field of experiential learning, designing programs that are hands-on, student-centred, and intentionally crafted to build resilience, foster connection, and develop real-world capabilities.
“We’ve always believed in the power of learning by doing however, it must be matched by intentionality,” said Col French, Director of JDP and KFA Camp. “AEE Accreditation reflects our commitment to being intentional, safety, professionalism, and meaningful student growth through outdoor and experiential learning.”
Both JDP and KFA Camp design programs for primary and secondary students, including school-based incursions, sequential journeys, and immersive multi-day outdoor experiences. Their approach focuses on helping students build confidence, interpersonal skills, and a deeper understanding of themselves and their communities while supporting schools with logistically simple and cost-effective delivery.
The AEE Accreditation process involves a rigorous external review, including evaluation of risk management systems, educational frameworks, program design, and staff development. By achieving this standard, JDP and KFA Camp join a global network of experiential educators who are raising the bar for outdoor and values-led learning.
