PRESS RELEASE: Line up for next week’s evening of comedy celebrating the Centenary of Coalcliff surf life saving is announced

Comedians Peter Berner, Dave Williams, Laura Hughes and Mat Wakefield will bring their talent to the Illawarra on Saturday, 25 February and join Coalcliff Surf Life Saving Club to kick off their 100 years of association with surf life-saving at Tradies Helensburgh.

“One of the core values Coalcliff has created over the past 100 years is community. It’s great to bring together talent from International Comedy Festivals to our community. This event is another example of how the club and our community can engage beyond public safety on the beach,” said James McFarlane, President of Coalcliff Surf Life Saving Club.

Headlining the evening is Peter Berner, undoubtedly one of Australia’s most popular and respected comics and broadcasters. He has performed his unique brand of comedy across Australia for nearly three decades and hosted iconic television shows and radio programs.

Peter started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1988 and has performed at various prestigious festivals, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Comedy Festival and Just For Laughs – to name a few.

His intelligent humour has always set him apart as a performer who can comfortably straddle comedy styles disparate as satire, observational, and reactive comedy with ease.

Comedy for a Cause is excited to host this event in the Pioneer Room at Helensburgh Tradies on Saturday, 25 February 2023. Doors open at 7 pm.

For 100 years, Coalcliff SLSC has provided a caring and family-friendly atmosphere, emphasising surf skills and an enjoyment of the ocean rather than rigorous competition.
