Local woman named as a finalist for Global Awards
Lauren Hunter of Balance Mobility, Balance Physio, Hip to Toe and a Mobile Allied Health Business has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards.
The Women Changing the World Awards presented by Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favorite guest, Dr. Tererai Trent, celebrate and recognize women achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who are leading the way in making the world a better place for us all and inspire other women to answer the call to take action.
Dr. Trent explains, “These exceptional women are here to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all. The rising of women is the awakening of everybody.”
Lauren Hunter is a multi award-winning entrepreneur, investor, and advocate, dedicated to transforming the healthcare, mobility, and wellness sectors. From humble beginnings, she overcame significant personal challenges—such as overcoming extreme shyness, rebuilding her life after unhealthy relationships, navigating pregnancy loss and legal battles—to become a resilient, innovative leader.
Starting her entrepreneurial journey alongside her father, Lauren’s passion for problem-solving led to the acquisition and expansion of multiple healthcare businesses. She and her husband now lead multiple companies in mobility and healthcare equipment, allied health, physiotherapy, podiatry, manufacturing, aged tech solutions, and private equity.
Despite facing risks like business expansion during COVID-19, Lauren demonstrated resourcefulness and strategic vision to scale her businesses, achieving significant growth. Today, she manages a seamless healthcare ecosystem, improving lives through innovative solutions. As a mother of three, aspiring speaker, and mentor, Lauren continues to break boundaries, proving that with vision, determination, and leadership, anything is possible.
For nearly a decade, Lauren has built multiple successful healthcare businesses, including Balance Mobility, a leading provider of high-quality mobility and health equipment. With 3 retail locations and plans to scale to 10, she now also manufactures and imports innovative solutions for the industry.
Beyond equipment, Lauren has launched an aged tech company developing technology-driven solutions for cognitive challenges like Alzheimer’s and dementia. Her physiotherapy and podiatry clinics on the Gold Coast provide expert rehab and recovery services, while her mobile allied health business delivers in-home therapy for NDIS and aged care clients.
Through strategic integration, Lauren’s businesses provide comprehensive, high-quality care across multiple sectors. She has also expanded into private equity, investing in scalable healthcare ventures that drive industry change. Her mission is to bridge gaps in care, enhance accessibility, and empower individuals to recover, manage abilities, and maintain independence as we all age.
This work is so important because what sets Lauren apart is her ability to integrate multiple industries into a seamless healthcare ecosystem, where mobility solutions, physiotherapy, podiatry, aged tech, and allied health services work together. Instead of operating standalone businesses, Lauren has built a network of interconnected services that provide continuous, high-quality care tailored to each individual’s needs.
“A client who uses our mobility equipment business can also be introduced to high quality physiotherapy services, podiatry and body care within our network, however we never push clients, it is always their choice. If their needs change, they are seamlessly referred to the right specialist, ensuring holistic, uninterrupted care without service gaps.”
By bridging healthcare sectors and rethinking how services are delivered, Lauren ensures individuals receive proactive, comprehensive support—allowing them to live with greater confidence, mobility, and dignity.
Dr. Trent’s vision for these awards is to empower women everywhere to reclaim their sacred dreams and call in women across the globe to unite and pave the way towards a better future for all.
It can be challenging to create change in the world and Lauren gives this advice for others thinking about following their calling to make a difference. ”If you feel called to make a difference or have an idea for a business, don’t wait for the perfect moment—start now, embrace the challenges, and trust that growth comes through action”.
Lauren is proud of her achievements, in the last 12 months she has expanded Balance Mobility to 3 Locations, she has acquired and integrated multiple businesses including Balance Physio GC and Hip to Toe, and she has also entered into the Private Equity Space where she launched a private equity firm, which has opened new opportunities for growth and innovation and attributes this success to a combination of vision, resilience, and having the right people by her side. By integrating services, focusing on expansion, and embracing new opportunities, Lauren has built a strong foundation for future impact. The unwavering support of her team and strategic partnerships has been essential in achieving these milestones
She is committed to continuing to make an impact through her work and her vision for the future is to create a nationwide, integrated network that transforms the healthcare, mobility, and wellness sectors by providing holistic, seamless care that empowers individuals to live their best lives, regardless of age or physical ability.
At the heart of this vision is the expansion of Balance Mobility to 10+ locations across Australia. ‘By increasing my footprint, I aim to make mobility solutions more accessible and ensure everyone has the right equipment to enhance their independence and quality of life. This growth will allow us to serve more individuals, creating a broader impact on their ability to remain active and engaged in their communities.’
A key part of this vision is to develop proprietary mobility and wellness products that reflect her commitment to innovation. By offering exclusive, high-performance products designed to meet evolving customer needs, she can provide unique solutions that elevate their brand and enhance customer satisfaction.
Lauren is also focused on scaling another mobile allied health service. This service will make essential healthcare, such as physiotherapy, podiatry, and occupational therapy, accessible to individuals who are homebound or unable to travel. “By removing barriers to care, we’ll ensure people receive the support they need, regardless of their location.”
Another cornerstone of her vision is the transformation of senior care through aged tech. She believes the future of aged care lies in integrating technology to help seniors maintain independence longer. Developing innovative aged tech solutions will enable older individuals to live confidently in their homes and communities, supported by technology that adapts to their needs.
Lauren is also creating a private equity firm, designed to drive innovation and scale within a range of business sectors. This firm will not only support her own businesses but will provide investment opportunities for other groundbreaking companies. By collaborating with like-minded entrepreneurs, she hopes to stimulate large-scale change in healthcare delivery, mobility, and aged care, ensuring that the industry evolves in a way that benefits individuals, families, and communities.
Ultimately, Lauren’s vision is to reshape the healthcare experience by making services more interconnected, accessible, and personalised. She envisions a future where people receive proactive, integrated care that enables them to live healthier, more independent lives. Through strategic business growth, innovation, and a focus on integration, she aims to create a holistic healthcare system that responds to individuals’ needs, enhancing their overall well-being.
This vision is not just about business growth—it’s about creating a meaningful impact on individuals and communities across Australia and one day the world. By aligning her ventures with core values of accessibility, innovation, and empowerment, she believes we can reshape healthcare to provide everyone with the tools and support to live their fullest life.
