PRESS RELEASE: Melbourne businesswoman and energy healer writes and hand-illustrates a children’s book for kids who are scared of the dark and have a “sixth sense”

MELBOURNE, Thursday, 1st of October – Javiera Ski is known in the corporate world as the founder of a national healthcare recruitment company. But her newest venture is the most personal thing she has ever created: a children’s book, written and hand-illustrated in her own home, for children who are frightened of the night and sense more than they can explain.
The Hallway of Stars follows Ruby, a young girl who is afraid of the dark, until, one quiet child at a time, she discovers she was never the only one. It is a warm, gentle, non-scary story built on a single reassuring truth: there is nothing in the dark but love.
The book is drawn directly from Ski’s own childhood. “When I was a little girl, I was frightened at night,” she said. “I would feel someone in the room. I would see and sense things others couldn’t. And I spent years believing I was the only one. I had a sixth sense from a young age, but I was little, and I couldn’t explain what was happening.”
“It took a long road of my own healing to understand what I now know to be true: I was never alone, and there was never anything to fear. What I was sensing was love. Guidance. The ones who watch over us.”
Now a practising medium and energy healer, Ski began the book for her own two children, who experience the same thing. “They see, they sense, more than most. So I went looking for a gentle, loving book to help them understand it, and I couldn’t find one anywhere. Everything out there was haunted houses, ghosts, scary stories, or superheroes and fantasy. Nothing that actually helped a child through it.”
It is a gap she says she now sees everywhere. “I’ve read the books and listened to the podcasts, and so many mediums, healers and intuitive adults describe exactly the same thing: fearing the night as a child, not understanding it, and carrying it alone. But it’s only as adults that we get to explore it and heal. Children have had nothing. I wanted to create something they could sink into now, so they don’t have to wait until they’re grown to feel less alone.”
The Hallway of Stars follows Ruby as she learns to shift the story in her own mind and discovers that what she feels isn’t something to run from. The book includes gentle calming techniques for fearful moments, and a note for parents on supporting a sensitive child.
“Stepping into being an author is completely new territory for me,” Ski said. “But this book is everything I wish someone had placed in my hands as a child. For every sensitive soul, every child who feels more than they can explain, every little one who lies awake at night: you are not alone. There are so many of us.”
The book is the first in a planned series, The Quiet Ones, with future titles set to explore themes such as spirit guides, working with spirit animals, and manifestation, always in a warm, grounded and age-appropriate way.
The Hallway of Stars is available now in paperback.
