PRESS RELEASE: Not-for-profit Sparkways helps parents build a village to raise their children

The Sparkways Podcast is the latest offering from Melbourne-based non profit organisation, Sparkways. In operation for 139 years, Sparkways has a reputation for providing quality early years education and youth services. The podcast is packed with innovative content aimed at educators and families alike.

Featuring some of the sector’s most experienced educators and subject matter experts, each of the six episodes in this first season promises to deep dive and unpack topics that help nurture the spark in every child.

Through a series of relaxed conversations guests provide parents, care givers and educators an easy access platform to help connect with and better understand children and young people.

CEO Angela Forbes is delighted to be launching the podcast led by journalist and mum Nicole Azzopardi  “From celebrated parenting expert Maggie Dent, music therapist Allison Davies, as well as our very own Billy Button Children’s Centre’s Simone Smith, we cover off some of the burning questions all parents and educators have.”

“Let’s face it” says Ms Forbes, “parents and educators are extremely hard working and very time poor. This podcast is the kind of thing you can listen, learn and be entertained with while driving, shopping, or when you’ve got a moment to yourself.”

Each episode provides an opportunity to reflect on the needs of children and young people and how all of us can surround them with support, understanding and skill to help them to thrive.

Tune in to Maggie Dent right now at https://sparkways.org.au/podcasts/episode-one-maggie-dent with episode one, as she provides practical tips to help children feel connected and respected while making stronger foundations to support them as they grow. Wondering how you can respond when a child finds their “NO”! Assertiveness coach Dr Nathalie Martinek in a future episode discusses real-life ways to bring you and your child to the negotiating table, while providing assertiveness tools we can all use to help decrease conflict, speak up, feel heard and hear others.

“We all crave that village in which to raise our children,” Nicole says. “The Sparkways Podcast is the kind of thing I wish was around at the beginning of my motherhood journey. We’ve carefully chosen the kinds of experts we know will not only be great to listen to but will leave you feeling more at ease, more empowered and more aware.”

Access to The Sparkways Podcast is available via the Sparkways website at https://sparkways.org.au/podcasts/episode-one-maggie-dent and also via a range of podcast apps such as Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple.
