PRESS RELEASE: ‘Park Cricket’ – The exciting docuseries following the most diverse weekend Cricket team in Australia
9 languages, 7 cultures and 7 professions. As incredible as that may sound, that is the diversity represented in this local Western Sydney men’s club cricket team. A new docuseries scheduled to premiere in February, offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at this diverse Cricket team, and showcases the highs and lows of a grueling cricket season post-COVID lockdowns.
Creators of this series, Kevin Sampath & Neil Maharaj are Finance and Commercial leaders, who had a creative itch to scratch, and a story to tell. “Many barriers divide the world we live in today. Status, culture, religion, wealth, politics, vax status etc. In a world where many choose to focus on what makes them different, we wanted to focus on what connects a lot of us together. Cricket for our team is the great equaliser.” said Kevin Sampath
The duo are hoping that through this project, they will be able to continue conversations around highlighting diversity through weekend sport. “We realised very quickly that people around the world play weekend cricket, and have interesting stories like the guys in our team. So we wanted to highlight and champion those stories through our ‘Humans of Park Cricket’ initiative which is going wild on Instagram at the moment” added Neil Maharaj.
The first episode of the series will be launched at a live event (and streamed online) at Wenty Leagues on the 6th of February at 1pm. More details on the event, and the project can be found on www.parkcricket.com.au
