PRESS RELEASE: Parramatta Liquor Accord and Safer Sips Partner to Distribute Free Drink Spike Test Strips
The Parramatta Liquor Accord, in partnership with Safer Sips, is proud to announce a new safety initiative aimed at protecting patrons across the Parramatta precinct. Starting November 25 under a twelve month trial, member bars, clubs, and restaurants will stock free drink spike test strips to their customers, empowering individuals to instantly check their beverages if they suspect tampering.
This proactive measure is a direct response to growing concerns around drink spiking and the safety of nightlife patrons. By making test strips readily available, the initiative aims to foster a safer, more welcoming environment within Parramatta’s vibrant hospitality scene.
Participating venues will prominently display information about the availability of these test strips, ensuring all patrons are aware of their right to check their drinks at any time. The strips are easy to use, providing rapid results for GHB, Ketamine, Cocaine, Scopolamine and other ’amine’ drugs that patrons can feel confident about the safety of their beverages.
“We’re committed to doing everything we can to look after our community,” said Dan O’Hara, a spokesperson for the Parramatta Liquor Accord. “By partnering with Safer Sips, we’re taking concrete steps to give patrons peace of mind if they think their drink has been compromised and support venues in their duty of care.”
