PRESS RELEASE: PeopleStories is the first bringing digital learning to thousands of children in rural Cambodia.

PeopleStories is the first bringing digital learning to thousands of children in rural Cambodia

Mobile digital learning is the idea of Aussie Victoria Miloschewsky who heads PeopleStories, a charity aimed at helping the most underprivileged children in villages across Cambodia since 2017.

Today, September 18, 2023, marks the first year of PeopleStories Mobile Digital School which has provided more than 23,000 hours of digital learning to more than 1,000 children across Cambodia. During that time – many of whom had never set eyes on a computer before.

The idea of transforming learning from “talk and chalk” to “flick and click” came during the pandemic when Victoria and her PeopleStories team pioneered the concept of a ‘Mobile Digital School’ travelling around Cambodia’s rural areas with a Tuk Tuk armed with technology enablement.

The rapid success of the idea and its impactful delivery has been possible thanks to the support of Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports (Bakong District).

A special ceremony marking the first year of the mobile school is being held at Chea Smonn Secondary School in the Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province. The guest of honour at the event is the Director of the Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports (Prasat Bakong District), TANN Vicheka Reangsey.

TANN Vicheka Reangsey said today: “The Ministry greatly values working with the team at PeopleStories because of the ‘common goal’ we share which is to help our children gain a better future through education.

“PeopleStories Mobile Digital School is the first to bring digital learning to our rural schools and so enabling thousands of our children to enter the world of technology for the very first time. It is a truly momentous initiative and one that we are happy to support.”

TANN Vicheka Reangsey presents a certificate of achievement “Being the first to bring Mobile Digital School to Prasat Bakong District” to Victoria and her PeopleStories team who will later give him a demonstration of the digital learning platforms.

Victoria’s personal journey, including overcoming cancer, has only strengthened her empathy and determination. Hailing from a working-class family in Hong Kong, she understands the intrinsic value of education and tirelessly advocates for it as a universal human right. Her life experiences moulded her into a compassionate and authentic individual, unwavering in her commitment to making the world a better place.

Victoria Miloschewsky says: “The mobile school has proven the concept of deploying professional web-based e-learning learning experiences in remote environments without needing the internet. I am proud to say PeopleStories is the first to bring Mobile Digital School to rural villages in Cambodia!”

She added that the mobile school concept is scalable with little cost but huge impact. PeopleStories is ready to scale up this impactful and cost-effective program in 2024 and beyond, she said.

PeopleStories Charity has been providing scholarships, school buildings and facilities, bicycles, learning programs and teacher’s training to schools and children in rural Cambodia since 2017. To find out more and donate to this most worthy cause, visit www.PeopleStoriesCharity.org .
