PRESS RELEASE: Professor Al Muderis Speaks at Korean Bone Lengthening and Deformity Correction Society Meeting

Professor Munjed Al Muderis, a leading innovator in limb reconstruction techniques, attended the ASAMI Conference, organized by the Korean Bone Lengthening and Deformity Correction Society on November 10. The annual society meeting was hosted this year by the prestigious Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea.
The conference focused on management of bone defects, deformity correction and bone lengthening, and hosted many local key opinion leaders in the field. Central to the meeting was Professor Al Muderis’s keynote lecture on ‘Osseointegration for Amputees.’ His presentation, spotlighting this innovative technique, was received by the audience with great interest.
Osseointegration, a groundbreaking solution for amputees grappling with issues such as ill-fitting sockets and chronic pain, represents a paradigm shift in orthopaedic solutions, offering hope and enhanced quality of life.
During the visit to South Korea, Professor Al Muderis also visited the Donghoon Advanced Lengthening Reconstruction Institute, where he had a productive scientific exchange of experiences with Dr Donghoon Lee, who specialises in limb lengthening, deformity correction and complex reconstruction. After this meeting and the conference presentation, Dr Donghoon is now looking forward to having Osseointegration technology available in South Korea.
Dr. Donghoon Lee’s eagerness to adopt this technology follows the meeting presentation’s success and the influence of Professor Al Muderis’s expertise. Osseointegration International, in collaboration with the local distributor TRS Networks, is now working towards introducing Osseointegration technology to South Korea, bringing a new option for amputee care in the region.
Further information about the osseointegration technique, can be found at https://osseointegration.org/, offering insights into its mechanisms, applications, and the transformative impact it promises for amputees worldwide.

Osseointegration International designs and markets the Osseointegration Prosthetic Limb System (OPL). The OPL system is made up of multiple components. The core implant is made of high-tensile strength titanium with a highly porous titanium coating, providing both initial stability as well as long-term bone integration (in-growth). The unique properties of the titanium coating allow the bone to grow into the surface of the prosthesis, which makes the bone-implant structure one solid unit.
