PRESS RELEASE: Record-Breaking Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships Thrill Crowds with International Talent and Nail-Biting Finishes

International stars, teen prodigies and family teams light up the 2025 Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships

SYDNEY, AUGUST 2025: The wind tunnel at iFLY Downunder in Penrith roared to life last weekend as the 2025 Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships brought together a record 145 athletes across 123 teams for three days of spectacular aerial competition.

Competitors ranged from junior flyers as young as seven to seasoned world champions, representing Australia, Singapore, Venezuela, Japan, South Korea and Europe. The event drew a passionate crowd both in person and online, celebrating the camaraderie, precision and artistry of indoor skydiving.

The Championships delivered no shortage of highlight-reel moments, with several performances sparking cheers from the crowd and admiration from fellow competitors.
• Kyra Poh, Red Bull athlete from Singapore, claimed four gold, two silver and one bronze medal, narrowly defeating the world’s fastest flyer Kai Minejima-Lee in Solo Speed. Kai turned the tables in the Freestyle Open, taking gold by just 0.6 points, an event where Kyra has previously been crowned world champion.
• Doni Gales, iFLY Downunder instructor, wowed the crowd by winning the Body Piloting Championships, a dynamic “follow-the-leader” discipline designed for spectator thrills.
• Gold Coast flyer Annabella, just 15, secured two silver medals, including 2-way VFS Inter with fellow teen Maia Margerison. She was edged out in Junior Freestyle Intermediate by Sydney’s Carissa Azzopardi, also 15.
• In Dynamic 4-way, a mixed Singapore/South Korea team took gold, Venezuela claimed silver, and the Australian favourites landed third.
• The coveted ‘Mini-Shredder’ award went to eight-year-old Yvonne Hu from China, who charmed audiences with her pep talks and claimed bronze in both Junior Solo Speed and Junior Freestyle.
• A nail-biter in 4-way Formation Skydiving AAA saw young guns Havok upset the experienced champion team Redux by a single point.
• Family bragging rights went to the Kids Blast team “Double Trouble” twin boys flying alongside two sisters who took silver in Formation Skydiving Blast. Their older brother and father then claimed gold in the 4-way VFS.
Indoor skydiving continues to grow in popularity, supported by a tight-knit and passionate community of flyers.

“This year’s Championships were an incredible showcase of skill, passion and sportsmanship,” said Holly Jaadla, Entertainment Marketing Manager at iFLY Downunder. “The standard across every category was outstanding, from our intermediate juniors through to our world champion flyers.”

“It’s always amazing to see the tunnel community come together,” she added. “The energy, the support between teams and the sheer level of talent on display made this one of our most memorable Championships yet. With so many young athletes stepping up, the future of Australian indoor skydiving is brighter than ever.”
