PRESS RELEASE: Samaritan’s Purse Response to QLD Floods
Samaritan’s Purse Provides Emergency Relief to Flood Victims in Goodna, Queensland
Sydney, NSW, 4 March 2022 – Samaritan’s Purse is aiding families in the wake of devastating floods that have inundated over 20,000 homes and displaced tens of thousands of local residents across the state. After nearly two weeks since the torrential rain, families are now returning home to find their homes damaged due to dangerously high water levels.
The relief organisation’s disaster response specialists and volunteers are on the ground in the suburb of Goodna, part of Ipswich Council in Brisbane QLD, helping impacted families clean up their properties – removing damaged contents and flood debris. Samaritan’s Purse is also partnering with local officials and Shiloh Church Goodna to help these communities start to recover, while reminding them that they are not alone.
“As the flood waters begin to recede, so many families are overwhelmed by the horrific damage to their homes and are unsure of what to do next,” said Daniel Stephens, disaster response manager of Samaritan’s Purse. “We want to be there to help as many as we can in Jesus’ Name. Please pray for these families as they begin the road to recovery.”
