PRESS RELEASE: Tails of the World: 40 International Pet Photographers United to Raise Funds for Pets in Need

Tails of the World is an international collective of professional pet photographers. To date, they have raised over $25,000 for animal charities with 25 books, including Tails of Melbourne, Tails of the Netherlands, Tails of Portland and Tails of Windsor.
Now they’re on a mission to go BIGGER!
In April 2022, pet photographers around the globe are uniting to make a difference for pets in need with Tails of the World: The Book. Featuring stunning pet portraiture from artists all around the world, 100% of the session fees AND book sale proceeds will be donated to animal rescue charities.
Founder of the Collective is Melbourne-based pet photographer, Caitlin J. McColl. “Seven years ago, I published my first book, Tails of Melbourne,” explains McColl. “I learnt so much from that experience, but one of the best things to come out of it was developing a creative process that other photographers could follow. Tails of the World was born from a dream to unite pet photographers in a mission to raise much needed funds for animal charities with beautiful photography and heart warming stories.”
McColl is now taking applications from excited pet lovers to be involved in the Tails of the World: Melbourne Dogs photoshoots with Ragamuffin Pet Photography. Photoshoot spots are strictly limited and require a $100 donation to Second Chance Animal Rescue, Inc.
The shoots will take place in the heart of Melbourne, on the 9th – 10th April, capturing the quirky graffiti, beautiful parks and stunning cityscape. “Photoshoots in the city do require careful planning,” explains McColl. “We always photograph the dogs on lead, and then the leashes are removed digitally in post production. We start at a park so the dog can get used to me and my camera first. It’s a time consuming process and requires a lot of patience, but the end results are so unique, bright and colourful, it’s totally worth it!”
In April 2022, McColl will be joined by 40 other pet photographers around the world, including in the UK, USA and Canada, each running fundraising photoshoots in their own towns and cities. Their goal is to raise at least $20,000 for pet rescue.
