PRESS RELEASE: The APL Million Returns to The Star Sydney — and 2027 Becomes a Two-Series Year
The Australian Poker League (APL) has today announced that Australia’s largest poker tournament,
the APL Million, will return to The Star Sydney in 2027, running Wednesday 24th February to
Monday 15 March — 20 days of poker in the heart of Sydney.
Head of Poker Joel Williams said “We’re very excited to be partnering with The Star to bring the APL
Million back to Sydney in 2027. The APL Million Sydney series will be tailored to deliver a premium
casino experience, with a focused schedule built around the tournaments players know and love. The
APL was launched in Sydney in 2005, and the first APL Million series was held at this very venue in
2017, so it truly feels like a homecoming for us.”
The Star Sydney’s Poker Manager, Martin Coughlan echoed that sentiment, saying “I am excited to
welcome Joel and the APL team back to The Star Sydney as we come together to co-host the APL
Million in February and March next year. With 2027 already shaping up to be a massive year for
poker, there’s no better way to kick things off than with two great brands partnering to deliver an
exceptional player experience and we look forward to welcoming players from across Australia for
what promises to be a fantastic series.”
Two APL Millions in 2027
Quite simply, one series simply isn’t enough to contain what the APL Million has become – the
flagship poker series in Australia!
Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast will continue to host APL Million in August 2027, with dates to
be confirmed soon.
The APL Million schedule, guarantees, buy-ins, registration and accommodation details for both 2027
series will be released in the coming months.
