PRESS RELEASE: The Best Friends Turning Divorce Into A Positive For Women

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – 20 APRIL 2021 Two Brisbane friends are determined to turn divorce into the best thing that ever happened to women across Australia. Separation and divorce are especially tough on women, with the Australian Institute of Family Studies finding that women who divorce in their 30s and 40s are still disadvantaged well into their 60s and 70s.

That’s something Gillian Moody and Carolyn Tate are determined to turn on its head.

Best friends for 15 years, Gillian and Carolyn went through brutal divorces within a year of each other, and have come out the other side stronger, happier and wealthier than ever before. And now they’re teaching others how they can do it too, with Champagne Divorce Club, a dedicated learning portal and online community for women navigating their darkest days.

“We were lucky enough to have a team of professionals around us who helped us through, and now we’ve created that support network for other women,” says Gillian.

“We’ve created an affordable membership program that shares advice and Q&As with experts from areas such as family law, financial planning, real estate, co-parenting, health, career, rebuilding confidence, and even dipping your toe back into the dating pool again, when you’re ready.”

The program also offers the added bonus of connecting with other women going through the same thing.

“We’re big believers in community and surrounding yourself with cheering supporters,” says Carolyn. “At a time when you’re most likely got someone who used to love you telling you all the reasons you’re a terrible person, being a part of a group where you feel welcome and valued is incredibly important.”

The Brisbane pair have run their blog and online community for women Champagne Cartel together for eight years, offering wellness programs, events, articles and retail products for tens of thousands of Australian women.

“We wanted to use our unique skill set of creating communities and connecting women together to help women going through what we’ve been through,” says Carolyn. “We can’t make the hard stuff go away, but we can offer expert advice and friendship – and make the process a whole lot easier than it would otherwise be.”

The main aim of Champagne Divorce Club is to help women see a bright new future for themselves, explains Gillian.

“We want to see women back on their feet, loving themselves, and knowing that their divorce was just the start of an amazing new life for them – one they get to design themselves, where anything is possible.

“We want them to look back and recognise that, although it seemed devastating at the time, their divorce was actually the best thing that ever happened to them.”
