PRESS RELEASE: The Diaspora 4G and Politically Motivated 2025-Annual Melbourne Eritrean Festival Has Officially been Cancelled!
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – 10 JANUARY 2025 – The 4G (Fourth Front) and politically motivated PFDJ Eritrean Annual Festival, which was scheduled to take place at Westgate Indoor Sports and Playcentre in Melbourne from January 10 to 12, 2025, has officially been cancelled.
The cancellation occurred after an urgent call from the Eritrean pro-democracy Blue Revolution movement to the Australian Government and relevant authorities to address the rising prevalence of politically motivated events masquerading as “community cultural celebrations.” This positive outcome is a result of an extensive campaign and consistent engagement by the Eritrean community with Australian authorities, local and international partners, and stakeholders that exposed the foreign power interference of the Eritrean regime in Australia. The Eritrean Consulate in Melbourne publicly awarded members of the 4G militia for instigating violence against the Eritrean Blue Revolution at the January 2024 festival, which was broadcast on Eritrean state media (EriTV).
The diaspora fourth front (4G) operates in Australia using community and religious organisations that are directly controlled by the Eritrean Consulate and local PFDJ representatives. The Eritrean Blue Revolution and justice seekers will continue to engage relevant Australian authorities and expose the hidden agenda of the Eritrean consulate and 4G activities, including threats, intimidation, division and tension among the community, forced radicalization of Eritrean children, money laundering, and fundraising for the Eritrean dictatorial regime through such politically motivated events. The People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) events and seminars frequently perpetuate selective narratives and misguide public discourse to control the Eritrean diaspora while silencing dissenting voices. But Australia has no room for 4G’s foreign power interference and transnational repression by the Eritrean regime.
Eritrea is in the horn of Africa and for the last 33 years it has been ruled by the Eritrean dictator Isaias Afewerki without constitution, free and fair election, and any form of rule of law.
