PRESS RELEASE: THE FIRST AUSTRALIAN MADE RAPID ANTIGEN COVID SELF TEST KITS APPROVED FOR USE

– The InnoScreen COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Device (Self-Test) nasal swab can detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus within 15 minutes.
– Available now in pharmacies and select supermarkets.
– Marks the first Australian-made rapid antigen test to be included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 336146)
– Approved for use by the general population with or without symptoms.

Australia’s first locally manufactured rapid antigen Self-Test kit is available direct to the public from the 1st of November. The InnoScreen Rapid Antigen (Self-Test) will be sold in pharmacies across NSW, VIC, ACT and QLD, as well as IGA and Foodworks supermarkets, after being included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 336146). The rapid antigen test is also available for pre-orders online at https://covidtestonline.com.au/page/innoscreen-antigen-nasal-swab-self-test/.

The InnoScreen test has a straightforward process to follow with only three main components involved, and as the swab sample is fully encased after use, it does not present a biohazard risk.

The nasal swab is inserted approximately 2 centimetres into each nostril to collect a sample and provides a positive or negative COVID-19 reading after 15 minutes. The results will determine if the virus is present in the sample in a convenient and non-invasive way.

“We are excited to make InnoScreen the first Australian manufactured rapid antigen self-testing kit available at a very competitive price to the broader market.

“Our product is locally manufactured and approved for use by people with or without symptoms. We have a simple process, all the safety features, at the most competitive price, and are available direct to the public to help Australia fight the spread of the virus,” says Shida Kebriti of Eczanes Pharmaceuticals.

With the introduction of this kit, Australian’s can opt for an easy to use, at-home option of COVID-19 detection instead of travelling to test sites over minor symptom concerns. Users who receive a positive result from their rapid antigen test will need to present to a COVID-19 testing station as soon as possible for a standard PCR test, which currently remains the gold standard for testing.
