PRESS RELEASE: Tiny Home Expo – Weekend Show for booming industry

Tiny Home Expo – Weekend Show for booming industry

BRISBANE, QLD & SYDNEY, NSW – A new Expo for the Tiny Home industry is coming together at Cleveland Showgrounds for the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th August, 2021 and Hawkesbury Showgrounds for the weekend of Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th October 2021

Large crowds are expected to attend the event to view over 20 tiny homes, including THOWs (Tiny Homes on wheels), Container Homes, Modular Homes, Log Cabins, Off Grid Products, and even huge liveable dome tents.

Tiny Home Expo Organiser, Phae Barrett, said she was expecting a huge attendance, and has organised a staggered entry system to limit queuing up to see each home and attending the speakers hall, which includes an array of passionate industry leaders.

“This industry deserves it’s very own show. It attracts a lot of questions from the public on rules, regulations, electricity connection, sewerage connection, and generally living with less stuff, as well as the possibility of being nomadic,” she said .

“Furthermore, the recent housing crisis has seen the tiny home movement swell as more and more people are looking at Tiny Homes as an affordable alternative to getting on the housing market, or retirees wanting to downsize. They are also extremely popular AirBNB options”

The Expo includes info booths manned by passionate Tiny Home advocates who can answer an array of questions from people who have lived, bought or built their own tiny homes. Several commercial Tiny Home construction companies can advise on design and can custom a house to the requirements of the buyer. There are also container homes (on skids) and large modular homes, and a Master Builder constructing a Cabin on site before opening day. One Sydney company is bringing huge liveable dome tents that have a long lifespan and can be customised to the buyers’ wishes.

Speakers will discuss the lifestyle impact, passive architecture, self building, off grid living and the Tiny Home movement in a weekend of back to back information talks which are repeated for both AM and PM sessions.

The gates will open at 8am for the morning session, and 1pm for the afternoon session, although morning session attendees may stay all day.

“Tiny Homes may look dreamy, but they bring a lot of questions. It is the organisers wish to introduce people to these wonderful homes and the incredible possibilities they bring with them, along with some answers to the avalanche of questions that people have about them”.

“My only wish is that the regulations were clearer across the country, which at present are vague and limiting. I hope that Council planners and local legislators take note of the popularity of this event, and personally visit this expo to see how the industry is coping around the lack of clear and concise rules and regulations. It is in their hands to give the go ahead for more people to take up living in a Tiny Home as a low impact solution for the environment that can also address many social issues from housing and poverty, aged care, and wellness”.

The Tiny Home Expo – Brisbane – is to be an annual event, which is also held in Sydney on 16th & 17th October. Following more Covid 19 easements on outdoor events, further locations across Australia are planned for 2022.
