PRESS RELEASE: UNEARTH YOUR LOCAL POTTER THIS WEEKEND!

AUSTRALIAN CERAMICS OPEN STUDIOS

Sat 13 & Sun 14 November 2021, 10am – 4pm

Could this be the event everyone needs after the year we’ve had? This November, nearly 200 potters and ceramicists around the country will open their studios to the public for the 9th annual Australian Ceramics Open Studios.

It’s a welcome opportunity for the broader community to step inside a creative space, chat with a local artist and experience the simple pleasures of clay and the making process.

There will be workshops, demonstrations, kiln firings and original ceramics to purchase from potters located in the suburbs, cities and rambling rural settings.

Studios are open 10am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday and entry is free. For enquiries about an individual studio and their event offering, go to their listing on our website and contact them directly. Profiles of all participating artists are found online here www.australianceramicscommunity.com/listing-type/acos/.

“You might see clay turned into vessels on the potter’s wheel or an artist decorating a ceramic sculpture with intricate imagery before the piece is fired in a kiln. This weekend will offer the visitor a rare glimpse into the space where creativity occurs.”
Cathy Franzi, President of The Australian Ceramics Association

Potters will provide a COVID-Safe space for their Open Studio visitors, in accordance with current, state-issued health orders.
