PRESS RELEASE: Yr-12 silver medalist set to represent Australia in Israel

Year 12 student, Summer Nordmeyer, has been selected to represent Australia at the 2022 UCI Junior Track World Championships. The South Australian will compete in Tel Aviv, Israel, for the event running from 23 – 27 August.
The UCI Junior Track World Championships are a set of world championship events for Junior track riders. It is regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. The event was staged in Egypt for the first time in 2021, at the newly completed cycling velodrome in Nasr City.
Summer won Silver in the Under 19 Individual Pursuit as well as Silver in the Team Pursuit at the 2022 AusCycling Track National Championships in Brisbane over April this year.
Summer also competed at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane for the 2022 Oceania Track Championships, running from 19 March – April 11 as a part of the Brisbane Cycling Festival, presented by King St. There she won a Bronze medal in the Under 19 Women Individual Pursuit.
The honour to represent Australia in Israel comes with significant financial costs. Kylie Nordmeyer has set up a mycause fundraising page to help raise what they can to cover costs including flights, accomodation, training camps, clothing, and equipment.
Summer hopes the experience will expand her knowledge of nutrition, recovery, and race craft and her ultimate goal is of one day representing Australia at the Olympics.
