Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean Swim, Sunday 19th February 2023
Raising funds for the Rainbow Club who bring the joy of swimming to children with a disability.
Malabar, Australia – The annual Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean swim is back in the water again on Sunday 19th February 2023 for the 15th year.
“The Magic” has attracted more than 8,000 thousand swimmers over 15 years and in 2023, over 1,000 swimmers will again dive into the calm water of Malabar Bay as they tackle the 1km, 2.5km and 5km courses.
The Malabar Magic is the principal fund raising event for the Rainbow Club, a not-for-profit charity group that is dedicated to providing swimming lessons to children with a disability. Rainbow Club is a non-profit organization that provides personalised swimming lessons to children with a disability, helping to keep them safe in the water and provide them with new opportunities for exercise and social participation.
Race Director Rob Lloyd OAM said: “We are thrilled to be back in the water once again and holding the 15th Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean swim. This would not be possible without the support of all the amazing swimmers, donors, volunteers, surf lifesaving crews, Randwick Council, St Johns Ambulance crew and the extraordinary Malabar community. We are always deeply appreciative of everyone’s support and know that the parents of the children learning to swim with Rainbow Club are amazed every year.”
“The funds raised will make a huge difference to the lives of children with disabilities in our community and help us to continue our mission of providing swimming lessons to those who need them most. Our aim to open more clubs in areas of need and I encourage anyone to come along to what is a special community event.”
The Rainbow Club is grateful for the support it receives from the community and is committed to continuing its work in providing swimming lessons to children with disabilities, in more locations across NSW.
Mayor of Randwick, Dylan Parker said “Randwick Council is proud to support the 15th Year of the iconic Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean Swim and we welcome all the swimmers to the Beach. Randwick Council and our community is proud to host this inclusive community event at beautiful Malabar Beach and also the Randwick Rainbow Club at the Des Renford Leisure Centre”.
