PRESS RELEASE: ‘A Beautiful Thing’ – A B4A Collective Launch Calls for Action to Support Grassroots Change
‘A Beautiful Thing’ – A B4A Collective Launch Calls for Action to Support Grassroots Change
Sydney, NSW – 6th of September 2025
Australia’s charitable sector is facing a widening equity gap, with over 60% of the nation’s charities receiving less than 2% of the sector’s $222 billion revenue, according to the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC). But one woman is working to change that.
Michelle Temu, a seasoned community leader with over 20 years of experience across New Zealand, Ethiopia and Australia, is launching B4A Collective, an ecosystem that connects donors, volunteers and business partners directly with grassroots community leaders.
To celebrate this movement, ‘A Beautiful Thing’, the official launch event for B4A, will take place on Saturday the 6th September 2025, from 6 PM to 10 PM at The Colebee Centre, Nurragingy Reserve. The evening will bring together philanthropists, community leaders, and changemakers for a deeply moving, multi-sensory experience.
The event will begin with a traditional Māori Powhiri and smoking ceremony, grounding guests in a shared spirit of cultural respect and collective purpose. Guests will then enjoy light refreshments by the water, followed by a multicultural degustation dinner, each course telling the story of Indigenous and community-led philanthropy through diverse cultural lenses.
Symbolically, the evening captures the B4A identity: Yellow for the light-bearers working at the grassroots, Blue for the resources flowing from partners and donor and Green for the flourishing outcomes of united action.
Michelle Temu explains
“We’re here to change the future of giving. The beauty of B4A is in what happens when communities are trusted, funded, and supported with dignity. We’re backing the 60.2% of charities who are rich in lived experience but poor in access to capital. They are the real experts and they deserve better.”
One of B4A’s early partners, the Lisa Harnum Foundation, credits Michelle with significantly improving their funding strategy.
“Michelle’s expertise in navigating complex government grants and building long-term sustainability has been a game-changer,” says Evelyne Wilton, Board Member.
“She bridges the gap between vision and viability.”
The evening is not only a celebration, it is a call to action. B4A invites sponsors, donors and advocates to help grow a thriving ecosystem where small charities are sustained, visible and impactful.

At B4A Collective, we bridge the gap between vision and resources for grassroots organisations. We understand that while you're busy making a real difference, fundraising often gets pushed to the side — but it doesn’t have to.
Whether you're a giver wanting to support meaningful change, or a doer in need of sustainable funding strategies, we're here for you.
With 20 years of experience across the not-for-profit sector in New Zealand, Ethiopia and now Australia, we connect everyday philanthropists with trusted, high-impact organisations — and help community leaders diversify their income streams so they can keep doing what they do best.
We believe in taking the power back and placing it in the hands of those who care. Let’s work together to create systemic, sustainable and community-driven change.
