As diesel shortages and rising fuel costs disrupt farms, construction sites and regional businesses across Australia, a Brisbane-based energy company is launching a new mobile power system designed to replace traditional generators.
MyNu Energy has unveiled the PowerQub-M, a trailer-mounted solar battery system that can deliver reliable electricity without relying on diesel fuel — a growing concern for many operators in remote and regional areas.
The launch comes as businesses report increasing difficulty sourcing diesel and managing rising fuel costs, particularly in rural Queensland and other regional markets.
MyNu Energy co-founder John Myler said the current environment has accelerated demand for alternatives to diesel-powered generation.
“We’re hearing from farmers, construction operators and regional businesses who are struggling with both the cost and availability of diesel. Power is critical to their operations, and they need solutions that are reliable, but also independent of fuel supply chains.”
Mounted on a trailer for easy transport, the PowerQub-M Mobile Power Station combines a 3kW solar array with battery storage options ranging from 60kWh to 240kWh, and can deliver between 25kVA and 160kVA of power depending on configuration.
Unlike diesel generators, the system operates without exhaust fumes and virtually no noise — a feature MyNu Energy says is increasingly important for workplace health and safety.
“Traditional generators are noisy, require constant refuelling and produce emissions that can impact workers on site,” Myler said. “Battery-based systems provide stable, clean power without those downsides.”
Co-founder Shaun Nugent said the ability to deploy power quickly in remote or temporary locations was a key driver behind the design.
“We wanted to create something that could be moved easily and set up quickly wherever power is needed — whether that’s a construction site, a farm, an event or even disaster recovery situations,” Nugent said.
“The trailer-based design means it can be deployed rapidly without the need for permanent infrastructure.”
The system also offers advantages for equipment performance, with battery-based power delivering more stable electricity compared to some diesel generators, which can cause wear and tear on sensitive equipment.
The PowerQub-M is designed and manufactured in Australia, with MyNu Energy positioning the product as part of a broader shift toward mobile, sustainable energy systems that reduce reliance on fossil fuels while improving energy resilience.
Industry observers say technologies like mobile battery systems are likely to see increased adoption as businesses look to manage energy costs and reduce exposure to fuel supply disruptions.
MyNu Energy expects demand across sectors including construction, agriculture, remote infrastructure, events and emergency response, particularly in regions where diesel logistics remain challenging.
