PRESS RELEASE: Byron Markets Urges Locals and Visitors to Support Community Markets This Winter

Byron Bay, NSW – As winter approaches, Byron Markets is calling on both locals and visitors to continue supporting the vibrant community markets throughout the cooler months. Despite the seasonal dip in visitor numbers, winter remains a fantastic time to explore the unique offerings of the Byron Community Market.
Graham Double, Markets Manager, highlighted the importance of maintaining community engagement during winter. “Historically, we see a decline in market visitors as the temperature drops. However, winter is actually an ideal time to visit. The markets are less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed and intimate experience. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support our local businesses, discover unique designs and enjoy live music from talented local musicians.”
Byron’s original market, established in 1987, is an iconic event that occurs on the first Sunday of each month in the Town Centre. It offers an eclectic collection of stalls that showcase Byron’s intrinsic authenticity and lively culture. The markets are more than just a shopping experience – they are a vital part of the community, supporting over 500 local businesses and providing a platform for local artisans, designers and performers.
Byron Markets plays a crucial role in supporting local musicians and charities. More than $30k is paid to local musicians annually, ensuring that the vibrant soundscape of Byron Bay continues to thrive. Additionally, almost $6k is raised each year for local charities, highlighting the markets’ commitment to giving back to the community.
“We encourage everyone to make a point of visiting the markets this winter,” Graham continued. “Your support helps ensure the continued success and vitality of our community markets, and supports our local stallholders. Plus, it’s a great way to enjoy the charm and creativity that Byron Bay is known for, even during the cooler months.”
The Byron Community Market is held on the first Sunday of each month, from 8am – 2pm in the Town Centre. Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere, with entertainment and activities for all ages.
