PRESS RELEASE: INTERVIEW OFFERED: Meet the Flyers: The King Family Takes Flight at the 2025 Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships

Sutherland Shire dad and his two kids gear up for a full family flight weekend at iFLY Downunder.
Flying is a full family experience for Sutherland Shire local John King and his children, Eva and Lucas, who are all set to compete at this weekend’s Australian Indoor Skydiving Championships at iFLY Downunder in Penrith.
Originally from Ireland, John has been flying at iFLY since the tunnel opened in 2014. A passionate and experienced competitor, he’s now sharing his love of the sport with his wife Kate, and more recently, their kids.
Lucas (11) and Eva (13) are making their competition debut in the 4-Way Formation Skydiving category, teaming up with iFLY Ambassador Leo and fellow junior flyer Ashton as part of team Blast. John will also be competing in 2-Way Dynamic, making it a big day in the tunnel for the whole family.
“It’s honestly one of the best things to watch,” says Holly Jaadla, Entertainment Marketing Manager at iFLY Downunder. “This isn’t just about competition, it’s about connection, confidence and seeing kids absolutely light up doing something they love.”
Lucas is also a budding actor and recently featured in a national television campaign for Australian Eggs. You can spot the family in flight here: Watch on YouTube (Eva in orange, Lucas crouching down).
The 2025 Championships run from 8 to 10 August and are free to attend at iFLY Downunder, with 145 flyers and 121 teams competing across junior, open, dynamic, and adaptive categories, including competitors from Singapore, Venezuela and Europe.
