PRESS RELEASE: INTERVIEWS OFFERED: International Day of People with Disability – Wednesday 3 December 2025

Earlier this month, iFLY Indoor Skydiving offered free indoor skydiving sessions for people living with disability to mark the International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD), celebrated this coming Wednesday, 3 December, with all 60 spots taken up in record time across the Sydney and Gold Coast tunnels.
The overwhelming response reflects the strong community connection to the All Abilities programme and the growing interest in indoor skydiving as an inclusive and accessible sport.
IDPWD recognises people living with disability, their carers, the workers who support them and the organisations that champion positivity and inclusion. This year’s theme, fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress, mirrors iFLY’s long standing commitment to accessibility and participation.
iFLY has flown thousands of participants living with disability over more than 11 years and continues to tailor the experience to meet a wide range of accessibility needs. This includes additional staff during gear up, an extra instructor in flight, smaller group sizes for comfortable entry and exit, fully accessible venues with lifts, accessible toilets and dedicated parking, and the welcome inclusion of carers and family in the tunnel waiting area.
Indoor skydiving is also becoming an important pathway for adaptive athletes, with the 2026 Australian Indoor Skydiving Championship set to feature para indoor skydiving as an official discipline for the first time. iFLY Downunder recently hosted a round of the Handifly Race World Series, attracting international competitors and demonstrating the strength of Australia’s adaptive flying community. Many All Abilities flyers now train regularly and compete at national level.
Among them is All Abilities Ambassador Greg Pinson, who lives with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair. Greg first tried indoor skydiving in 2020 and quickly became a passionate advocate for the sport. “Flying gave me a level of freedom and exhilaration I never expected,” Greg said. “It shows people what becomes possible when barriers are removed and support is in place. This sport gives you confidence, connection and a real sense of achievement.”
iFLY continues to expand its All Abilities programme with a standing 20% discount using the promocode ICANFLY, monthly All Abilities events in both Sydney and the Gold Coast, tailored support for anyone with physical or cognitive diversities, and dedicated equipment such as leg harnesses for regular adaptive flyers. The programme has been built to create a safe and supported environment where all flyers can participate, progress and enjoy the experience of flight.
Media are invited to attend the International Day of People with Disabilities sessions for interviews, photography, and access inside the wind tunnel. All Abilities ambassadors, adaptive athletes and iFLY representatives will be available for comment. Sessions will run at 1pm, 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday 3 December at iFLY Downunder in Penrith and iFLY Gold Coast.
