PRESS RELEASE: More Fun for Families as Athletics Victoria Launches the FAMILY3K

Athletics Victoria will launch their FAMILY3K event at this month’s St Anne’s Winery, Bendigo Cross Country event on Saturday, May 28.

Aimed at families with children 5-11 years old, The FAMILY3K encourages people to get moving again after two years of pandemic disruption. The first edition, taking place at St Anne’s Winery, Bendigo, on Saturday, May 28, allows participants to take advantage of closed roads, each receiving a medal to celebrate their success.

Kids aged 5-11 are just $20, with parents $5, with registration available online at www.athsvic.org.au/family3k.

“It’s been a difficult couple of years for everyone, especially for kids who have had so much disruption around sport, school and social settings,” said Dan Wilkins, General Manager of Emerging Markets and Communications at Athletics Victoria.

“We’re very excited to offer a family product that’s non-competitive and one that is aimed to be done at whatever pace participants feel like on the day,” Wilkins said.

In addition to the first event at St Anne’s Winery, Bendigo, on Saturday, May 28, families can enter FAMILY3K events at Sandown Racecourse on July 9 and at Albert Park on August 7.
