The Musicmen Rally Australia to Support ‘Our Ange’ with New Anthem ‘Ange Ball’ Ahead of Europa Cup Final
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — May 19, 2025 – The Musicmen, a beloved group of ex-pat professional soccer players turned entertainers, have released a spirited new anthem, ‘Ange Ball’, in support of legendary Australian coach Ange Postecoglou as his team, Tottenham Hotspur, faces Manchester United in the Europa Cup Final on May 22 at 5AM AEST.
A heartfelt tribute to Ange and a celebration of Australian soccer pride, Ange Ball is a clever reinvention of The Choirboys’ classic hit Run to Paradise. Mark Gable ‘The Choirboys’ and writer of the original song was more than happy for The Musicmen to parody this awesome song!
The track led by Steve Cal calls on Aussies everywhere to rally behind Ange and share in a moment of national pride.

The Musicmen first rose to fame with a memorable appearance on Red Faces on Hey Hey It’s Saturday and have continued to entertain and inspire for more than four decades. Founding member David Brooks shared the group’s passion for the project:
“We all came here leaving our families back in the UK to play soccer. But now, after so many years, we are a family. I’m proud that I’ve kept this group going, proud of the lifelong friendships we’ve made, and proud of the smiles we continue to put on people’s faces. Most of all, we’re proud to call Australia home — and proud of what Ange has done for Australian soccer.”
‘Ange Ball’ by The Musicmen is available now on Spotify. Join the chorus and show your support for Ange and Aussie football on the global stage.

About THE MUSICMEN

This is our connection with Ange as we all played against him on OZ! "We were all playing at different levels of football in the UK, starting our careers at professional clubs such as like Bury FC, Crystal Palace, Oldham Athletic, Notts County, Grimsby Town, Chesterfield and Wolves," says The Music Men's David Brooks (aka Brooksy). "My highlight was to play against arguably England's greatest player, Sir Bobby Charlton - Bury v Manchester United. "As our dreams of playing pro football weren't happening, we all gained contracts through our agents to play soccer in Melbourne." At this stage, the ten footballers came from all over the UK and didn't know each other. "What united us was our love for, and dream of playing, football," Brooks continues. "We all moved 20,000 kilometres to the other side of the world to fulfil our dreams." Individually, the then young men played for teams in the National Soccer League (now the A League) and the Victorian State League. " Brooks began frequenting The Windsor Castle Hotel and started doing a (now popular) party piece, I Am The Musician. "In 1988, fellow teammate, Phil Griffin, told me I should go on Hey Hey It's Saturday Red Faces," he continues. "Next thing, I grab nine of my soccer mates and go on Red Faces and win it, $500! We went straight to the pub and spent it and it was back to soccer which we love. However, history will tell you that I Am The Musician would never go away. To this day the phone keeps ringing. We've performed at both MCG & SCG for the Ashes, Rod Laver Arena Australian Tennis Open & Basketball, Sydney stadium Rugby Union NSW v South Africa and the ARIA Awards with Will Smith & John Farnham." The Music Men followed that song with a series of Top 40 Hits such as What Can You Play, Ablett's In The Air and I Am The Footy Fan.
