PRESS RELEASE: CONTINUUM Exhibition: 90 small ceramic works invite us to look slowly and deeply

Noosa Regional Gallery has partnered with The Australian Ceramics Association (TACA) to present CONTINUUM, an exhibition of ceramics by TACA Members showing from Saturday 18 July – Sunday 13 September 2026 at Noosa Regional Gallery, Tewantin QLD. Visitors are invited to walk beside a continuous shelf showing 90 small-scale artworks that demonstrate the diversity and excellence of contemporary Australian ceramics.
A continuum has no abrupt separation. It forms as elements connect over time, linking past, present, and future to create a lasting story. It has room for experimentation and change, these elements bringing diversity and growth.
“This exhibition speaks to the way knowledge and skills move through the ceramics community over generations of artists, teachers, and mentors. It’s this shared learning and exchange that keeps the field vibrant, connected, and constantly evolving.”
Diamando Koutsellis, CEO, The Australian Ceramics Association
From around Australia, 90 works by TACA members were chosen to represent the variety and beauty of contemporary Australian ceramics. Each work was constrained only by scale, with a size limit of 40cm high and 15cm deep and wide. Abstract, sculptural, and domestic ceramics sit side by side, winding through the exhibition space and inviting slow looking and contemplation. The continuous shelf connects diverse styles, techniques, and materials, creating a unified conversation that each viewer will respond to differently.
“There’s something compelling about a thoughtful installation of a mass of works which allows ideas to emerge between the works. Similar and contrasting concerns echo across the exhibition space which is really exciting.”
Michael Brennan, Director, Noosa Regional Gallery
“Clay moves through its own continuum, carrying histories that predate our touch. Working with it feels like entering a conversation already underway, where the material shifts state but never leaves its lineage. On the surface, my marks register the altered ground—roads, cuttings, industrial impressions, the ways human activity has pressed itself into the earth. These lines serve as acknowledgements rather than illustrations, allowing the vessel to carry the record of its disrupted origins.”
Marianne Huhn, Continuum artist
